Cream Cheese Garlic Bread Recipe
Perfetto will share with you a special version of this unique and enticing dish, a less sweet and more savory bread. If you think that combining Danish cheese bread with garlic butter bread doesn't sound appealing, you might not have tried this one!
The blend of delicious soft bread with rich cream cheese and aromatic garlic butter is sure to captivate you from the very first bite!

Ingredients:
- For the Bread:
1 cup warm water (100 to 110°F / 40 to 45°C)
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for dusting
- For the Cream Cheese Filling:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
A pinch of cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
¾ cup thinly sliced green onions
¼ cup heavy cream
- For the Garlic Butter Topping:
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
8 cloves garlic, minced
A pinch of salt
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
1 large egg
6 tablespoons grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
Instructions:
- Assemble all the ingredients.
- Combine the warm water, yeast, sugar, and 1 cup of flour in a bowl. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix with an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook until the dough is fairly smooth, elastic, and sticky but not overly sticky, about 5 minutes. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Knead the dough briefly before transferring it to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
- At the 30-minute and 60-minute marks, uncover and fold the dough 5 to 6 times with wet fingers to develop the gluten structure.
- Transfer the dough to a working surface and press it flat, pressing out any excess air.
- Divide into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball. Place the rolled dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with Silpat® and press them down slightly. Lightly dust with the remaining flour. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread in the center of the preheated oven until slightly browned, 20 to 25 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
- While the bread cools, make the cream cheese filling. Mix the cream cheese, sugar, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, parsley, green onions, and heavy cream together with a spoon until well combined. Mix the melted butter, garlic, salt, parsley, and egg together for the topping using a whisk until combined.
- Return the cooled bread balls to the prepared baking sheet. Use a sharp knife to cut 6 slashes on each bread ball, cutting about 90% of the way through.
- Dip the cut bread balls into the garlic butter and coat evenly between the slashes with your hand or a pastry brush. Pipe or spoon 1/6 of the cream cheese mixture into each bread ball.
- Brush each bread ball again with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese on top.
- Bake in the center of the preheated oven until the bread is beautifully browned, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve and enjoy!
